1. FC Nürnberg was founded on 4th May 1900. The club colours are red and white. 1. FC Nürnberg holds its home games at the Grundig stadium.

With nine championships, 1. FC Nürnberg were the German record champions for over 60 years until 1987, before they were superseded by FC Bayern München (Munich). Since the summer of 2009, 1. FC Nürnberg has again played in the German football Bundesliga (premier division). At the end of the 2006/07 season, 1. FC Nürnberg won the DFB (German football association) Cup. This was the team’s first national title since 1968 and it brought qualification for the UEFA Cup and – for the first time in the history of the club – for the DFL league cup.

To date, 1. FC Nürnberg has celebrated nine German championships (1920, 1921, 1924, 1925, 1927, 1936, 1948, 1961, 1968) and won the DFB Cup four times (1935, 1939, 1962, 2007).

At the end of the 2010/11 season, the club held 6th place in the Bundesliga. 1. FC Nürnberg is ranked 14th in the all-time table. Players who have put on their boots for 1. FC Nürnberg include famous footballers such as Andreas Köpke, Stefan Kießling, Andreas Wolf and Marek Mintál.
